Application Specialist

We are seeking an individual with initiative to strengthen the IS team in the role of Application Specialist. You will be working in our office in Amsterdam. The ideal candidate has a dynamic personality, is technically involved, and has accurate analytical and development skills. A work experience in an international datacom or telecom environment is preferred, but not a necessity.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Constantly monitor and analyze the IT infrastructure and advise on improvements;
• Responsible for the support and maintenance of various databases and applications within the office network of Linxtelecom;
• Ability to transform functional requirements into technical solutions using a mix of common sense, technical knowledge and knowledge about financial and operational processes;
• Development and implementation of these technical solutions;
• Creation of custom reports or reporting systems by linking and querying information from various applications;
• Creation of application interfaces to exchange data;
• Liaise with local vendors of hardware and software;
• Create and set guidelines for data modeling and programming standards.

Knowledge, Competencies & Skills:

• HBO / Bachelor level education or level obtained through experience;
• Minimum 2-3 years experience in a similar IT role;
• Affinity with technical aspects;
• Excellent command of English;
• Experience with data migrations and complex database models;
• ASP.net, Visual Basic, MsSQL, MySQL, HTML, CMS, XML, Active Directory;
• Knowledge of and experience with MS SQL is required. Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft Dynamics (CRM), Crystal reports, Exact and Nagios is preferred;
• Analytical Skills;
• Highly accurate, focuses on improving performance;
• Well organized;
• Self-motivated, takes initiative, flexible, reliable;
• Good writing skills;
• Demonstrates a high level of determination to follow actions through to completion.

Location: Amsterdam

Anticipated start date: 1 December 2010 or earlier
